Will Croatia win the FIFA World Cup 2018 final and avenge its 1998 semifinal loss against France?
The semifinals of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2018 were really very thrilling and entertaining. The scoreline of first semi-final showed 1-0 in favour of France.

Argentinian legend Maradona had earlier predicted that the match between Belgium and France would be a highly tactical and dull game. That tactical football too can be very entertaining, was proved by this hard contested semi-final match between Belgium and France.

People were greatly divided between the two sides. While many thought that France would proceed to the final, for many others Belgium were favourites especially after their excellent win against Brazil.

But favourites aside, all appreciated the game between the two teams irrespective of who won in the end. Both France and Belgium displayed great temperament throughout the tournament.

In second semifinal between England and Croatia, most of the people were considering England as favourites. England has a committed young team which displayed some good football skills winning crucial matches against Columbia and Sweden.

At the same time most people ignored Croatia who had made it to the semifinal by displaying some great football. In the semifinal match Kieran Trippier scored the first goal for England from a free hit. His shot somewhat reminded of David Beckham. But Croatia are a committed team who have earlier proved that they can make a comeback even after trailing. The same happened as Ivan Perisic scored an equaliser and later in extra time, Mario Mandzuckic scored the winning goal for Croatia.

This is the second time that Croatia has reached a World Cup semifinal. Earlier in 1998, Croatia had lost to France in the semifinal. France went on to lift the FIFA World Cup that year, while Croatia had to contend with the third position.

Now between France and Croatia, 90 per cent of the football fans see France as favourites. France has defeated strong teams like Argentina, Belgium and Uruguay, so naturally, France are clear favourites. However, at the same time, Croatia can't be overlooked. A team would take them lightly only at its own peril.

I'm not going to predict anything here. The better playing team should win. But if Croatia win, they would become the ninth team to win the World Cup. Although I wish that Croatia win, but frankly, won't be disappointed even if France win it for the second time. Also, Croatia has a chance to avenge their 1998 semifinal loss against France.
