One crazy ride: Discovering a path that doesn't exist
No script, no screenplay, and no professional actors. The film One Crazy Ride is a journey captured with a camera, moving and still, in a creative manner, and is just another example of how personal films, social media, and a willing and interested audience are enabling democratization story-telling. This citizen journalist spoke with filmmaker Gaurav Jani who captured a most crazy journey with his four fellow bikers from Delhi and Mumbai.

Shot with no back-up vehicle or film crew, in parts of India hardly seen, filmed or explored, the documentary that this citizen journalist viewed in Gurgaon's Epicentre captures the interactions and experiences of the riders who are trying to chart a route, which according to everyone does not exist.

"It was a motorcycle expedition on uncharted roads across the Himalayan state of Arunachal Pradesh, situated in North-east India. But more than an expedition, it's a film on friendship, camaraderie and the "never say die" attitude of five motorcyclists in the face of unforgiving terrain," is what Gaurav posted on the website of his production house Dirt Track Productions.

At the screening of the film, almost 40-50 people were present, and after the movie commenced nobody wanted to leave their seats till the finish.

Nicolitta Pereira (Nicky), Vinod Panicker, Sanjeev Sharma, Gursaurabh Singh Toor(Sobby), Gaurav Jani who were a part of group named '60KPH',  decided to go for this crazy and adventurous ride on the uncertain routes of North Eastern states.

The film began with introductions of all riders, how everybody was excited and worked hard to be on this ride. Nicky had to quit her job, bought new bike and convinced her parents and husband to come on this expedition, which was obviously not an easy task for her. Sanjeev Sharma, a shy guy, also saved money to be with 60KPH. Sobby was known for his sense of humour, and Vinod, skilled in mechanics, and a self-considered perfectionist, were part of the cast.

All of them when started, had not the slightest idea what lay ahead, and the difficulties they will face to make the expedition successful. But one thing was sure that they will complete this expedition no matter what comes in the way.

Many breakdowns of bikes, tough roads or no roads, dense forest, unknown nature of tribals of the area about whom all of them had heard that they are unfriendly with outsiders. Still, they moved on and carried on with their journey and discovered unheard and unbelievable stories about the area, which were totally unexpected. But what kept them moving ahead was their passion and serenity of places they visited. "When I was young I heard that heaven is a place where there is silence and beauty all over. I think this is one," Nicky mentioned in a film.

Seeing the film I could realize that how much limited knowledge we have about our country mates who don't even never heard of urbanization. And this happens with riders also. "There is a huge shift of perception in my heart and mind towards the people of North east states. I felt ashamed of my little knowledge. They are very friendly with everyone and cherish the visit of outsiders. I realised that how these people found happiness in small things which we take for granted. They eat on leafs, they drink river water. they value nature and worship it as their mother, all things which are having no value here in our society," Sanjeev told this citizen journalist.

This is my longest and craziest ride so far," Sanjeev said. All the riders packed their bags and prepared with their Bullet bikes, and all five of them chased their passion and dreams, which was clear with this film.
