Ants on plants are not harmful to flowers, inform botanists to gardening hobbyists
You must seen ants visiting certain flowers during the bloom in the spring and rainy season in your garden. You need not get panicky since they do not harm the flowers in anyway.

According to botanists, it has been seen that ants often harvest nectar from the flowers on plants.  During this process, they also devour many insects and pests attacking the plants.

Ants play a very important role in the ecology of gardens and often work as seed dispersers for plants. They also compete with other herbivores and seed-eating insects while looking for honey in the flowers of plants.

Ants start coming when flowers open to bloom and they disappear as bloom starts fading during spring and rainy seasons.

However, when ants as swarms or in overabundance start visiting flowers, they can reduce the honeydew-production process of the plants and damage the flowers. This can be reduced by spray of light soap solution on the flowers.

On the whole, plants have a positive role to play in gardens and number gets controlled by being eaten by other insects and animals such as spiders, frogs, lizards, birds, fish, ant-eaters and some mammal as a part of food webs and symbiosis.
